Kerry Sather was raised in Nokomis, SK where she still lives on a farm with her husband Douglas. She has one daughter Rayelle, two step children Don and Deliany, and three grandchildren named Chase, Carolyn and Nathan.
A special care aide at the Nokomis Health Center and a group home operator at Cathy's Place which is also in Nokomis. Kerry likes spending time and having fun with people of all ages.
With her hairy friends Pubby, Marty and Zoey by her side she enjoys walking and snow shoeing, or just lying on the couch.
She can also be found riding the Harley Davidson with Douglas and cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, or just barbecuing in the back yard with family and friends!
David Mark was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he spent countless hours as a kid drawing pictures and dreaming of building a drafting table under the stairs!
After moving to Saskatchewan, David fell in love with both the province and a beautiful woman named Jolene "Little Miss" Higgins. They moved to Nokomis where they met Kerry and Douglas, and became instant friends.
Disguised as Foy Taylor, David has spent the last number of years travelling Canada and abroad, playing guitar and singing with Jolene. He too is a Rider fan and enjoys spending time in the yard, gardening, bugging his cat, Ottis, and playing with assorted flying toys.
I asked Kerry what inspired her to write her first Bee Book named Bee Yourself. She told me that she believes people are always trying to "bee" someone they are not.
People always want to have that perfect image. In order to do so they may have to do things they usually wouldn't or "bee" someone they aren't.
People also always want to "bee" perfect, but as humans we aren't.
Many people go into extreme debt in order to keep up with the jones'. Hopefully everyone can learn to love and respect themselves and one another, and remember... always remember to Bee Yourself!
Kerry used her own resources to write her book. She used what she had seen and heard everyday and put it into a story. I think that is why this book makes for such a good story. It can be related to everyone. You see things like the what happens in the story happening everyday, and maybe even from your own personal experiences!
